Being Prepared

The boy scout motto is be prepared.  Today, I was a lucky old boy scout.  As I was driving to take a short walk I came across this redtail hunting on the side of the road.  The vast majority of the time, an  adult redtail will not hang around when the car stops moving, but today was different.  Lucky for me, I was prepared and had my camera with me.

After dropping to the ground in search of a meal.  The hawk came up empty handed and then flew off.

 Focused on the hunt.

Some interesting foliage remnants.

This picture makes me think of the beautiful art my friend Rick Harrington makes.

Red Tail

Went out this morning for a little bird outing and captured this immature Red Tail Hawk.  Love seeing all types of raptors and getting close is even better!

Road Side Attractions

Driving down the road the other day I saw this immature Redtail perched in a tree next to the road.  Luckily I had my camera.  Still working on getting flying birds pictures really sharp.  Have some more work to do on that front but I do like the head peeking out from under the wing.
